If you're one of the three or so readers of this blog, I'm sure you've heard me complian about the hecticness of the next month or so . The craziness kicks off today with Thanksgiving with Nick's family, followed by a drive to Pittsburgh to see my family, a reunion with some old friends on Friday and my 10 year high school reunion on Saturday, followed by a drive back home on Sunday. December is shaping up to be a similar month of packing the car, heading out, coming home and repeating.
What I've neglected to say out loud, amongst the complaining about miles driven, stuff packed and demands on our time is that I'm truly thankful that we have TOO MANY places to be this year and that so many people really want to spend time with us. Although some members of the family have to work on their invitations (making them more of an invite than a demand), it all boils down to good intentions.
Nick and I miss both families terribly and wish that we could spend equal time with both, but also want to give our own little family of three its fair share of time as well. For now, that time is spent in the car, reflecting and laughing about our tri-state tour and multiple dinners in one day. As silly as it sounds, this is one of my favorite parts of the holiday - piling into the car, Chino in his bed or on my lap, Nick behind the wheel, carrying on the most random (and sometimes blog worthy) conversation.
Happy Thanksgiving!!!! I'm truly thankful for being over committed and for lower gas prices, which makes it a lot easier for us to spend time with everyone that we love.
