Nick and I are going to a wedding this weekend. Of course, being the type of people we are, we haven't even LOOKED at the registries before today. While I was eating lunch, I got onto the site and looked around, trying to find that gift within the price range of $100-$150ish - you know, wedding appropriate. Celebratory, but also enough to cover two dinners, some cake and a few cocktails. Don't want to overdo it but don't want to be a dead beat either. After I searched through the lists, the things left were dishtowels, bowls, funnels and picture frames. The highest price thing on both registeries was less than $100.
I called Nick and declared that we were going to do gift cards. The last thing that I want is to lug a huge bag of stuff to a wedding, make the couple (or their parents) lug it home and then compel the newlyweds to write a thank-you note that incorporates ALL items. Although now that I'm thinking about it, it might be funny to just pick random things that don't go together and throw them in a bag and say congrats! I'd provide gift receipts of course - but it would be entertaining to see if they would try to figure out a rhyme/reason/theme that they would reference in the thank you card.
