Nick is used to crazy things like this from me. I'm notorious for giving him "Valuable Coupons" or artist renditions of his gifts. Sometimes its because I wait until the last minute, ok most of the time, that's why. In this instance, I gave him the tickets with the print-out, hoping that he'd connect the dots. He looked at the tickets and then looked at the print-out and then looked at me. I was waiting for the light bulb to go off, but it didn't. I asked if he wanted me to tell him, but he wanted to figure it out. I told him to read the labels on each of the pieces and parts. He did, but still no luck. He even asked me if I bought him a light saber. That cracked me up, but I was still determined to get him to realize the connection between his print-out, our 3rd anniversary and Star Wars in concert. Finally, I asked him to read them out loud. When he got to "focusing crystals", I just looked at him, with my eyes big and a look of anticipation in my face. FINALLY, I heard angels singing as a light shone down from Heaven when he realized that a light saber was made of crystals and light sabers were used in Star Wars and that we were going to see Star Wars in concert. Sheesh. Lots of work to connect those dots....or should I say galaxies?
Fast forward to December 2, 2009, anniversary gift, part deux. We arrived at Star Wars in concert, not knowing what to expect. We were hoping for dressed up fanatics, but had to settle for cute kids dressed as Yoda or Storm Troopers. Light sabers were plentiful and cheaper if you bought them outside before entering the arena. We knew that there would be a live orchestra, but what we didn't know was that we'd get upgraded seats and one heck of a show, narrated by none other than Anthony Daniels, better known as C-3PO!!!
There was a huge screen set-up behind the orchestra, which showed the scenes that they played. Anthony Daniel's told the story and set-up each segment of the movies. It gave me a little more appreciation for the movies and made me actually want to watch them again. It was kind of like Cliff Notes for Star Wars, which actually provided the motivation to want to read the book to fill in the blanks. And now for the mandatory cast of characters...at least the characters that I could get close enough to for a photo op.
One more Star Wars/Anniversary connection before I leave you for now. On our honeymoon, we had the pleasure of meeting "That Yoda Guy" in St. Maarten. Since we bought one of his prints, he signed it and dedicated it to our honeymoon. For our 2nd Anniversary, we did the same thing, this time choosing a print of the Caribbean. That Yoda Guy added the route of our ship and signed it once again. His shop is extremely interesting, filled with Star Wars and other movie memorabilia.
