Friday evening kicked off with a purse party for a regular group of teachers on the east side. They came up with some really cute creations - even if it took a little longer than I would have liked. Bottom line, the purses got designed and everyone was excited. I had to laugh though about the one lady (who couldn't buy a purse) who circled the table over and over - commenting (WITH A VALLEY GIRL VOICE)..."Its pretttttyyyyyyyy....so pretttyyyyy". Its so hard to recreate the voice in print - but believe me, it might be best left to your imagination. I called Nick on the way home and gave him my impression of the Valley Girl, and he made me do the impression at random times for the rest of the weekend. Also of note - when her b/f called her, several times at the party, his ring tone was "Always" by Bon Jovi. Very appropriate. I think that I'm going to change my ring tone for when Nick calls to a burp or a fart - that would be equally appropriate in this girls mind. Maybe I can make it so it will burp my name...or even burp "I love you" - since that to me is his equivalent of a serenade by Bon Jovi via Verizon.
Saturday, it was PANCAKE DAY!!!!! This is my favorite time of the week because Nick makes killer cinnamon pancakes. I crave them and think I could be very happy with a diet comprised of cinnamon pancakes and weird taco shells. He gets very serious when he makes them, and I circle around, making coffee and occupying myself until he tells me to "get the stuff ready" which means plates, forks, butter and syrup. Yum. Chino loves pancakes too, ever since he was a puppy. I think that I taught him to eat off of a fork using pancakes as "bait". Lately, he likes to be involved in the process, but more in a supervisory role.

After pancakes, we headed out to the garage to do some more purging and organizing. First things first, we started to build my new table out of an old door. I had seen this done on an episode of Trading Spaces and thought that it was such a cool idea that I retained it in my memory. There will be another post with pictures on this particular topic. Anyway, the garage is where lots of stuff landed during our move and most of this stuff has no business being in a garage. We started sorting and tossing some of the crap - keep, giveaway, toss, file and move inside. The result was moving our pile from one side to the other. The pile is pared down, which means progress. At 3:45, it was time for me to get ready for purse party #2 of the weekend. This time, it was out to some regulars in Hebron. I love this crew - they come up with AWESOME designs and they do it quickly. I was in and out in about 1 1/2 hours. In the purse world, this equates to about a nano second, since some parties stretch past three hours as people make life or death fabric decisions. I called Nick on my way home - MUCH earlier than he anticipated and we made plans for a long overdue date night. Since we had a BOGO coupon, we headed up to Old Bag of Nails in Delaware for some dinner and drinks.
Old Bag of Nails had a great crowd for people watching. There was a car show in town, so the clientele that night included everyone those with mullets to those with breast implants. We found ourselves riveted by a couple at the bar. I use couple as in couple of breast implants out with her husband. They were in their late 40's early 50's. She had the "girls" out for a night on the patio and he was sitting there puffing on a cigar. They really didn't talk much because the live music was blaring, making it hard to carry on any type of conversation, but they were fun to watch nonetheless, as they sipped and puffed and how she made sure that her expensive cleavage was out and about for the world to see and admire. I have to admit, they were impressive - but they were so impressive that it didn't look like her head belonged to her body. It was kind of weird.
After dinner, we took a stroll through Delaware and decided that there wasn't much happening, so we headed home for some Netflix. Being the old bag that I am, I promptly fell asleep and missed the entire movie that I had cut in front of Nick's movies on our queue.
Sunday morning - woke up feeling rested. Nick was doing some work, so I went to town clipping coupons and watching TV. Three cups of coffee later, I decided to reorganize the fridge. My Better Homes and Gardens Magazine - yes I subscribe - had a piece on fridge organization. Ours has been a disaster since we moved. We basically brought the food over and tossed it in without any rhyme or reason. To make matters more complicated, our shelves are adjustable and I haven't been able to find my happy place as to their configuration. So I sat myself down in front of the fridge, magazine in hand and began to empty the entire thing. Nick was done with work at that time, so he was tasked with disposing of hairy, scary and expired condiments, leftovers and produce. I must say - it was a quick and easy job - and when I was done, I was truly happy with the fridge. Coming soon: Before and after photos.

After the fridge purge, it was off to Menard's on our plexiglas mission for the door table. We had called around to home improvement and glass shops on Saturday and found that they had what we needed for the best price. This worked out perfectly because their circulars had been taunting us ever since we moved to Delaware. They seem to have everything and more for cheap. The trip turned into a several hour excursion as it really did turn out to be a wonderland for home improvement. We bought a range of things from the plywood to the plexiglas to some lightbulbs, sunglasses, a bamboo stake, Milkbones and a couple of cheap flowers. All in all a great trip. We arrived home in time to assemble the table, chat with the neighbors and hang out for an impromptu puppy play date with Chino's girlfriend Nala. Before we knew it, it was late on Sunday and time to go to bed and get ready to tackle the week! It was a random weekend, nothing crazy but lots of fun nonetheless. We won't have other one like that for awhile with trips, weddings showers and birthdays coming soon. Hopefully that makes for some great material. Stay tuned for fridge pics (oh yeah baby) and the recap of the table project.
