Preparations are under way

Tomorrow will be the 2nd annual New Year's Eve party in the 'burbs!!!!  I'm so thrilled that our friends will once again make the trip up to ring in the new year with us.  This year, I'm excited to welcome both old and new friends into the mix and a couple of canine pals as well!  As I'm learning more about the in's and out's of party hosting (hostessing?), this process has been getting more and more efficient.

One important lesson:  people WANT to bring stuff, so let them!!!  Instead of saying, "bring whatever", I've given out assignments, in sort of a divide and conquer type of approach.  Since I made assignments, I know that only the A-game goodness will be showing up for the celebration.  A few highlights...Sheila's veggie pizza, Brian's buffalo chicken dip and of course the New Year's Pretzel (custom ordered without the maraschino cherries, which make the whole thing a sloppy mess).

Cheers to 2009!

I'm sure the kitchen chairs appreciate the Morsch's not being there after last year's required surgery! ;)

I am a big fan of having people bring assigned food.
A) They always know they will like a least one thing
B)If you assign them their specialty they get to show off.

I didn't understand this years ago during my own "bring whatever" phase and for some reason everyone brought diet soda...that was about the same time I discovered no one drinks diet soda at a party. (Nor did we when it would get left behind.)

Ah well, live and learn. Hope you had a Great New Year's Party.
